200 lb man sailing a radial? (Not Racing)

I'm having problems getting my standard sail fixed before I go on vacation next week. (refer to the "Is there a way to tell if a sail is still good?" thread) Here's another possiblity. I found someone selling their Radial rig for a good price. A Radial would be great for my wife and kids, but, will I be able to have any fun on it? I'm 200 lbs. Again, I'm a beginner, and my wife thinks a Radial would be better for me to start off practicing with, since it's underpowered. Is she right?

You'll still have fun, which should be the main object as you are learning - the only thing you'll give up is planing in under 12-15 knots of wind, over that you will enjoy the radial more as you learn the boat

The radial will be much more suited for your wife and kids as well.

My brother in law who is 200+ pounds and a beginner sailed my Radial in gusty winds (10-15 mph, some higher gusts) and had a blast. He did go over a few times when a gust happened but still had fun.
