1977 Laser

Looking at a 1977 Laser w/1990 Kitty Hawk Trailer, all parts there (wooden boards).

Assume good condition on all, what's a good price?

Seems like half the value would be in the trailer.

Thanks in advance

Depends on a lot of other stuff. What type of set up is it pro rigged, how many sails, have you poured water in the mast step to see if it's leaking? If it is a boat in good shape I would say somewhere around 1,200.00. If you want something for less and don't need the trailer maybe they will deal. Usually people will knock off somewhere between 150.00 to 250.00 if you don't want the trailer.

Half the value is not in the trailer. A 1977 Laser in good condition may be $1000, more or less, by itself with just one sail and old style rigging. If you do better than this, then you are really doing well. The thing is, are you sure it is in good condition? The boat should be stiff inside and out and the mast step not leaking. If there is an inspection port close to the mast, try to get an inside look at it to make sure there's no rot at the base or cracks.

Hi,

I think '77s came with white boards, so that boat may be older. Someone may have swapped them though, it was pretty common then. If it has wooden cockpit grab rails, then the wood boards were original.

1200. would be top dollar for the boat only, unless it had a nice newer sail and pro rig upgrades, but the trailer alone could bring 4-450. by itsself. A '90 trailer would probably need new tires, bearings, and maybe lights to be reliable, especially if it ever got dumped in salt water.
