DIY Easy Seitech Dolly Tire Repair - Inner tube insert

I'm happy to have helped! NOTE: Make sure you check the tire pressure, before using your dolly, if you haven't fixed the valve stem to the wheel by some means. My tire lost pressure and the valve stem slipped inside the wheel. Fortunately, I was able to fish it out. Otherwise, I would have...

DIY Easy Seitech Dolly Tire Repair - Inner tube insert

Hello fellow laser sailors! In my quest to repair my Seitech dolly tires I gathered knowledge. Now I will share my discoveries. I have the tubeless knobby Carlisle 145/70-6 tires on older fiberglass/plastic type redish, pink wheels. The air pressure got low and caused cracks to appear in...

Need help sailing to weather. I pinch when block2block

Thanks for the input. After thinking more about it. I believe it's a sail trim issue, since I had never had this problem in the five previous regattas. And I'd been trying more vang and cunningham. It was like the groove was very narrow, when sailing block to block. With both W/L telltales...

Need help sailing to weather. I pinch when block2block

Two weeks ago, 10-12kts raced a couple W/L races. I noticed, when sailing up wind to the weather mark, I lose ground on other boats. I notice that when I'm block to block and hiking, there's a fine groove to sail in...if I pinch a bit (which seemed to happen a lot), I'd lose some boat speed...

Southwest laser regattas around New Years?

Not much happening in December and January. ABYC in Long Beach, has their "Boxing Day Regatta" which usually has some Lasers participate. It's a random leg, handicap fleet race though...just for fun really. www.abyc.org BYC in Newport Beach, has their "Sunkist Regatta", which a fleet of...

Adjustable Toe Strap Rigging? - Pictures Please

Thanks guys! What maintains the adjustment on the first Rooster system? Is it friction? Or is the load divided among the lines and it just stays that way? ...Yeah, I think I see how it works. When you move the bowline, you take up the purchase in the 2:1 and with the load from the strap...

Adjustable Toe Strap Rigging? - Pictures Please

So, as soon as I posted this, a ton of links popped up at the bottom of the screen refering to Hiking strap... I guess searching for toe strap yielded nothing, hiking strap has been hashed over a ton. So, I found this pic http://www.laserforum.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=19&d=1087147309...

Adjustable Toe Strap Rigging? - Pictures Please

So, I've searched the forum and the web and seen pics, but no success...so I bring the question here.... How do I rig a functional, non slipping and kick ass adjustment system for my toe strap? I looked at a couple other boats this weekend, but at first glance, I couldn't tell, how the 2:1...

    Tiller Extension Length?

Re: Tiller Extension Lenght? I made an extension from a 48" piece of carbon and epoxied a universal joint into one end...fixed to my Acme Carbon tiller, I found that the extension would get caught on the mainsheet, between the boom and the mainsheet block, when tacking. To get the extension...

    Rolling new sail

How big of a piece of PVC should I roll my sail on? 4", 5", 6" diameter??? I would imagine the larger diameter the better. What do you sail rollers use?

Too light for a Full Rig??

Thanks for the input. I don't feel overpowered. I guess, I just don't know enough about laser sailing yet, to know what's effective and ineffective. Like keeping the boat flat in light air...it sure feels better with some heel in the boat. I'm 26, so I'll probably not be getting any taller...

Too light for a Full Rig??

Just curious, what is the competitive weight for a Full Rig? I'm 169lbs and 5' 10", should I stick with the Full Rig in all conditions? Steve

    Sanding vs filling hull stratches

Dredies - Yes, I did just that. I scraped the gelcoat over the scratches and kept it very thin...it worked pretty well. A couple things I noticed were how the gelcoat shrinks as it dries. Deeper scratches may require more than one coat of gelcoat. Also, it's important to test your...

    Sanding vs filling hull stratches

I started applying gelcoat to my hull today. I have a ton of scratches...my hull 21XXX, must have lived on a rocky beach for a few years. Real Quick: I tried the clear tape on top of the gelcoat and I also tried putting masking tape around the scratch to avoid overspill (less gelcoat to sand...

    Sanding vs filling hull stratches

I've made that mistake with epoxy before and have doubled my sanding workload. My hull looks comparable to the writeup on this site, where the guy had the fire red hull that he sanded with 80 grit before using polishing compound. He wanted to sand out the scratches before filling them. My...

    Sanding vs filling hull stratches

Levent: On http://schrothfiberglass.com/LaserMaint.htm He mentions using: buffing compound (Dupont 101, Acme 50, 3M Super Heavy Duty, or a similar grit). I'm about to undertake a major hull job as well. My hull is horrible. It must have been used solely at a beach house and have been drug...

any one know if there are laser lessons in Orange County,CA

Re: any one know if there is laser lessons in Orange County,CA If you want to learn to sail, take the OCC classes in their FJ's or other keel boats. If you want to learn how to race lasers, you need to own one, charter one or buy one and practice on it. I recommend buying one. Check...
