You can find many articles covering tuning guides, racing basics, racing tips, moving up in the fleet, and winning on lakes at your finger tips.
Just sharing one of my more embarrassing moments...
 The 'tack' terminology is very confusing and is needed when hailing for room from another boat as a right-of-way boat or needed when you must give room.
For example, I thought it was appropriate to hail 'starboard' when you were...
As the previous post mentioned.... inserting an "inner tube" into tubeless tire/rim setup is a tried and true method for fixing flat tires. Also works on autos/trucks/etc.
Also, have you tried slime into the tire (use it on my riding lawnmower mowing through stickers with no problem) since it...
It's that time of year to dig out my favorite holiday wish for everyone again.
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday(tm)...
While not low-profile this is very inexpensive and replaces the standard wooden tiller nicely. I used the link at the bottom to make an aluminum tiller from 1-inch square tubing from Home Depot (~$12usd) and, I believe, was 8 feet long (enough for two tillers). You have to make sure it is AL...
I also am a little light at a trim 82kg. It has been noted in other threads that in heavy winds a smaller sail has the advantage which is similar to reefing the main. As for the cost, consider the falling value of USD and you may need a wheelbarrow to bring your money to the market in the near...
I seen the info on the "Laser Turbo" this last august and was excited about the new developments as a new-to-me laser owner. I was just about to post a new thread when a quick search revealed the same topic under "Sail at Cascade Locks" thread.
Quoting the forum:
Over the past 1.5 years...
Unless there is an obvious crack (entry point) that allows water to enter inside the hull that developed recently, I would check the brass cockpit drain bung. My laser leaked at this point. I disassembled the tubular brass fitting which has a nut on opposite end (bottom of boat), applied 4200...
Ya Glen, I thought you looked pretty funny out at the lake in just you swim trunks. j/k
Last we sailed was early November with temps in the 70 degree area and water temps near just as warm.
Swim trunk are a good idea if you only go sailing on warm days (here in Austin, Tx).
And now, you've...
Thanks guys! I went sailing in that high wind Saturday Nov 15, here in Austin, TX with about 25 kts and gust up to 34 kts.
Quite fun, and I was doing really well. I wanted to make one last last run before I started for the dock when I capsized. No problems... although it turtled. First time it...
Nah, I think bromanw said it best, that...
And I like the part that Mattcm said about letting the waves bang you around to help turn (Use a gps unit and see how fair this technique works)
George (WestCoast store guy) is on to a good idea looking for flat spots when dealing with waves as...
Here's a thread that mentions "high winds and into irons" advice of going fast, even if you have to bear off slightly (similar to my previous advice of "go into the tack with plenty of speed (you may want to crack off a little as you approach the tack)")...
Adding to what others suggested...
Yes, during the time of coming about, the boat is receiving no motive force from the wind; it must "rely on its inertia" to maintain enough speed so that it can be steered onto the opposite tack.
When the boat does not have...
Tell tales
Three sets: one for upwind near the luff, one in the middle of the top third of the sail, and one for by the lee two feet in from the leach. Light yarn works nicely because it isn’t too jumpy.

Happy Sailing
I, also, am new to sailing lasers. I am 48 years young and a paraplegic (I leave the wheelchair at the dock); although, I've sailed and still have catamaran.
I have no problems since I use a 4.7 rig and a kitty hawk trailer.
I will use full rig when recreational sailing with another person...
Looking throught the laser forum archives, i've found a mention of oldest laser.
The first production Laser was #101 which was owned by Bruce Kirby - I
believe he gave it to the Mystic Seaport museum.
Sail #102 is owned by Ward Bell our district 8 secretary who still sails it
from time...
Remember that around Austin, Texas, is mostly flat so the view of Devils backbone is rather nice scenery.
