Yes i would replace any original deck fittings. i just finished restroring my 73 laser, and she looks real good. i jus wondering hows the mast step i know mine was in pretty rough condtion.

probably the one of thw worst thing i did was forgetting to tie the boat to the dock when i went ashore for some food. and the worst was not in a laser but a 420, it was sailing about 5 kilometers out to the mouth of my harbour where my rudder...
well for some of us who do sail on the ocean andwould like to keep thier canadian, american, british or assuie citizenship. might take this seriously.
although as i said before they are pretty quick to release if you capsize properly. if not i just the matter of swimming under and uncleating...

anyways if tit capsizes while you have the main cleated either reach over and un cleat before it turtles or swimm under and get it... its allot eiser then...
