LASER RACING
LEEWARD ROUNDING
LASER SAILBOAT
Those all turn up good results...
You must do a few things to get a proper leeward mark rounding.
first, PRACTICE! it took me weeks of practice of over and over again to get it perfect.
If there is a gybe mark in your course, there is no need to gybe at the mark, therefore you always want to head a little higher than the mark...
What's the weather like? It may not be this, but if it is cold, you might have a problem getting it in. You shouldn't but there's always that possibility.
Why do you need teflon tape? It's fine without it.
I have the boots and strap system, but a friend of mine has the barefoot boots, and I plan on ordering some this next week. The interlocking material is a definite plus and it helps a TON! I love Zhik products, if only their life jackets were legal.....
Also, a lighter mainsheet helps. Just tried a new one today and it helped bigtime! However, it was a LOT harder to grip, but it was a lot better on not getting caught up.
I think it's a pretty good idea. It would really be useful in Lake Sailing, but not for anyone in my area.
I definitely want to see the finished product though.
I just got in from sailing a full rig at 30.1 knots ( as it said on our weather guages)
I'm 175lbs and I could NOT keep it down. I capsized about 10 times and ended up loosing 2 battens.
I'd say 25 knots is the limit without reefing the main.
Hi! I'm about to order my ACME FATSO 54'' carbon tiller extension, but i wasnt sure if it would be too long? They have a 48'' also, which would be better for a full rigged laser?
yeah, just leave the bow on the dock still, I do it alll the time. then, just sit on the dock and hang your feet in the cockpit, trim in, and plop the rest of you in as the boat takes off!
another thing to do is try to roll tack it...I live in Corpus Christi Tx, and we have about 15 mph on a calm day. We have wind ALL THE TIME. You can either power through the tack by triming the main in, or you can depower a little and slowly roll through the tack staying on the old windward...
