I doubt it, I wouldn't have been out there if I'd known. I went today, supposed tobhave been around 8mph. The boats rudder works pretty good at moving the boat along, luckily. I managed to sail maybe a quarter of a mile circle and the little wind I got came at the cost of a torrential...
If anyone is wondering how I got blown over on a lake with no wind, the local newspaper asked me for an action shot when they saw me out there, so I let a puff take me over.
I was doing this the same week this article came out. This was the day I had to walk across the lake because of no wind.

The problem here is we don't have variable winds. We have 3-5mph winds for a week and then maybe a front causes it to pick up for half a day. I've had to walk back across this lake in the past with a different boat. The alligators make it thrilling... I have a little paddle in the sunfish now.
Oh no, inland small city lake right now. The Louisiana coast is crap for sailors, great for fishing. It's a big Delta with crappy brown water. If I was going to sail on the coast, I would drive down to Gulfport Mississippi. But there is no tide problem there. That wouldn't be a problem, but I...
How much wind is needed to move a sunfish along just enough to keep you from going to sleep? I live in Louisiana and now that the water is warm enough to sail, the wind never blows. For instance, the high for today will be 6 miles an hour. When I had my 30 foot Catalina, I needed at least 10...
Finally getting around to rigging this thing. The bolt is poking into the sail. Am I simply supposed to cut it shorter? Or do I have it on wrong? Wouldn't think it needs to be cut.
I paid too much for the boat, so I'm not concerned with it's value, but I would like to sail it soon. I've built a rudder and tiller before and I'm not interested in doing that again. At this point I just want to throw some money at it and be done, but I need to know what fits what. So if I...
If the old straps need to be bent to fit the new rudder, how come the new straps don't need to be bent to fit the old tiller? Or will the tiller need to be cut down to fit the new straps?
EDIT: Oh, you said an old hockey stick, I thought you were calling the old tiller a hockey stick...
It's getting very complicated since Sunfish Direct doesn't take phone calls...what if I bite the bullet and buy the assembled cheek and rudder, can I use my 1962 tiller and hardware with it? Or do I also need to buy the new tiller straps and hardware to adapt my tiller?
