Last weekend I saw someone that had their daggerboard held in place with a shock cord stretched across from the splash rails. There were 2 holes in the splashrail holding the cord in place. I am not drilling any holes in the board. So maybe I won't do this since no one seems to understand my...
That's how I have the board now, running forward. I want to have less lines around the mast, so I want to move the daggerboard retainer to the aft side of the board with the line running across from the splashguard sides.
I would like to put in a shock cord from the Splashrail to hold up daggerboard. Some Questions.....
1. How far back from the trailing edge should it be?
2. What size drill bit?
3. Is the hole made directly in middle?
3. What size shock cord?
4. Where do you get the little piece of plastic...

I am having trouble getting my gust adjust right. I can get the upper boom snug to the mast at the jens position but am having trouble getting the upper boom snug to the mast at the regular position...any ideas?

UHMM.... didn't the North American Champ turn around and win the Laser 4.7 Worlds the following week? If the boat is more appealing more kids from the pipeline will come in. Unless there is a way to attract more youths...the class will continue to dwindle.
I could not agree with the above statement more, and respectfully disagree with Demon. You clearly have 2 populations of sailors, recreational summer lake sailors and more competitive racers. Updating the design in my opinion will bring more people into the class. Look at The Opti class....it is...
I just read a post of billmcinnis, the jensloop lay on the stern (back) side of the mast and the jens halyard pull thru the front (bow) side? Maybe this was my problem.
So today was my rigging and experimentation day. I got the Gust adjust going and it seems to work fine but I have some issues.
1. The 3/16 amsteel was tight but threaded OK thru the head cap on the mast. I am thinking a thinner line for the jens may be better.
2. The Jens Halyard was VERY...
