It's quite simple really, the boat moves a bit sideways when you turn wile planing and if you have the board down it will trip over it if the boat turns just a little =P

My boats alot newer than yours but it's been used pretty heavily and it's slightly soft in cockpit and some small cracks. No biggie really =P

Ok I might have worded that wrong, they wheren't really popular anywhere untill after they had already been at the olympics once, and as far as I can see, they still arn't really overly popular anywhere (compared to other old and current olympic classes).

49ers wheren't really popular anywhere before they became an olympic class, they're only used because they do spectacular capsizes and similar shit so they get abit of TV-time.

In the case of fleetracing, I really don't enjoy watching it on TV and I don't know anyone who does =P Matchracing can be quite ok but there are still quite a few sports I find more entertaining.

It has nothing to do with what's beeing used by the mass or what has international status. IOC wants TV-minutes and sailing can't really provide that, cause seriously, it ain't fun to watch sailing on TV (especialy fleetracing which is what we're usualy doing). I don't really have an answer for...

Depends on the conditions. In light airs you need to sail angles just to keep the boat going, when the breeze goes up abit, but yet not high enough to surf/plane it the gains of sailing angles becomes smaller (dead downwind still usualy aint good but you dont need very big angles). When you can...

Yeah, defently worth it for most. I sailed a long time without any though and it worked fine for me, untill we had a really long winter one year, after that it just hurt to much without them ;)

I pretty much always sail in really gusty conditions and I find that you need a decent bit of vang. I might use more vang in slightly lighter airs, not sure, but I still use a decent bit of vang in heavy and gusty conditions (I figure the boom might go out in about a 45 degree angle).

Work with the main, if you do that correctly you'll be able to keep the boat going no matter how bad the rest of your stuff is trimmed =P (of course people with welltrimmed boats will go faster but the point is that it all comes down to working with the main).

I have a hard time imagining anything beeing left of the actual laser if you make something like that (something that works that is, in other words, something that dosn't break).

Mine (including wrists/feet) are probably 75% sail number tape nowdays. Works fine and it's a hell of alot easier than getting new ones. I've switched them a few times but it's just to bothersome =P
