The hull is filling with water, but now I know that it's RAINWATER. How and where is it getting in when the boat is not even in the water? Through the bailer? Last time I checked it was a lot of water. How can so much water get into the hull when the boat is on dry land, rightside up?
Thanks for the reply. Two questions: When doing this work what's better or easier: boat right-side up or upside-down?
2nd: What is the mast tube? My mast is sitting on a steel plate.
I was given an old laser and now found out that it's made in two parts - the top (cockpit) and bottom (hull). How was the cockpit edge sealed into the hull? There is nothing there now (I can actually move the cockpit out of the hull a little). Water is obviously going in through this gap...
Just out of curiosity, since mine is wrong, if the mainsail halyard is inside the mast, how is the rope tied onto the wire loop in order to allow it to pass through the small block at the base of the mast? See pic#1
Wrong picture.
On the other picture you see that I used an ordinary pulley that I had so your idea is great and works well except there's still the problem of getting the knot small enough to fit through the block. Obviously it doesn't with this one. Will it with the one that you suggested ?
These are my final pics with a last few questions:
1. The mainsail - you can see there's a few more inches at the top, which I can raise. The rope attached to the wire loop of the halyard is through the jib winch right now just to hold up the sail. Even if I was able to attach a rope to the...
There's an upper "eye" and a lower "eye", if that's what these are called. From the "eyestrap" to the upper "eye", through the lower "eye ", into the cleat. Corrections??
How come all references to the original owners manual is missing that 1 page. Thanks to mmacintyre for providing it. And a big thank you to LaLi for answering all our newbie questions.

Since I don't have a Laser to compare it to, this reference doesn't help. With 2 passes through the fairlead the sheet does not move smoothly when I uncleat it. Is this normal? What type/thickness rope should be used?
The owners manual devotes 2 short sentences and 1 not clear picture. There's much more written about it and a video, all of which ends up being confusing. Could somebody make it short, sweet and clear how it should be rigged, considering that I'm not racing, and not using a spinnaker?
Now that we've determined that the halyard rigging is all wrong, and since I'm not about to undo everything and attempt to install it in the mast until late fall, what can I do with the wire loop as shown in my first post to secure the mainsail?
I'll start a new topic for my next question - the...
So, considering that the jib halyard is outside the mast, and I have those 3 little balls are cleated in, as you can see I'm short a few inches for the wire loop to reach the black plastic cleat that I assume it should be on. What do I do with it as an extra security?
