Suggestions for tieing Sunfish to Seitech dolly? When both are in water, and waves are bouncing boat around, I'm looking for quick way to secure boat to dolly so as I pull dolly from water, boat stays with dolly.
Suggestions welcome.
After the early 1970's, when the "new style" boats began to be manufactured, were there any significant design changes after that time period?
Such as how the tiller was attached, cockpit design, etc.
Thanks. Not sure what the proper name is, but I need the black plastic fitting that connects to the axle, just inside the wheel. The part I want slides over the axle, and then the vertical piece that holds the sling fits in from the top.
I have a new problem. Lake Michigan destroyed my Sunfish. Ripped the boat off my dolly, jammed the dolly up shore under trees, shattered the boat into many pieces. So I'm looking for a replacement part for my Seitech dolly. Not finding luck on line. Ideas? Also looking to buy used Sunfish...
I'm using a winch, attached to a tree, to crank the dolly out of the water, so changing launch site not an option. But the PVC suggestion is a good one. Thanks all.
Excellent idea, thanks Andy. I won't get into the low hanging tree branches near shore that require me to step the mast as I'm pulling the boat out. A saw for tree trimming, a shovel for digging out dolly wheels buried in rocks that waves wash ashore, a corkscrew for removing the drain hole...
I think that's the way to go. Of course, I don't have a bow handle, so I need to figure out if I still have a backing block to attach a handle to, or affix some other hardware to the bow that can be used to anchor a strap linking bow to dolly. Thank you.
A steep shoreline and frequently rough water - nothing to hold the boat onto the dolly. I'd be pulling up an empty dolly as the boat slipped into the water.
I tried to buy one from Sunfish Direct, dating my boat carefully from its serial number. SD sent me the wrong plug, and their customer service ignored me, so I'd be wary of relying on them to sell you a replacement. As others have noted, corks work, although can get kicked loose when coming about.
I'm looking for advice on securing my Sunfish to my Seitech dolly. I now use a strap from a Yakima rack system to hold the boat in place, but it's awkward, grabbing the strap from one side, walking around to the other side, threading the strap through the loop and tightening it, often with the...
If you look at the pic posted by Gregory Matous in this thread. The part in question is the middle of the three parts, the cap that screws into the drain hole in the cockpit.
