Being new I am likely overthinking this. On my clonefish the halyard runs through a fairlead just aft of the mast step and is then cleated just in front of the cockpit. I would think this setup leads to a bit of stress to the deck. Is there any point to adding a cleat to the base of the mast...
Title says it all.
I did a search and found nothing. I am curious as to why the Sunfish was designed with rings as opposed to a sleeved sail through which you would insert the spars.
I'm no engineer but I would think a sleeved setup would be stronger and less spots for air to "spill out"...
I see I can change out my mainsheet pulley for a so called cam cleat( ability to lock mainsheet )
As a new sailor am I better off keeping what I have so I am always holding the sheet?

Took my clone (AquaFinn) for a first sail. When I placed boat on trailer after 3 hour sail i opened the drain plug and a ton of water came out. Is this normal??
If not I'll call the manufacturer
Well I cannot find any new Sunfish in the southeast. esp Florida. Couple of older ones on CL but not in great shape.
