last one... enjoy!
Day 6 – shifty 10-15 knots with small waves, just like Dallas
After a brief delay, the wind died and shifted from the usual southeast to the north. The weather marks were set close to shore. To the middle and right was a steep 1,000 foot hill, to the left was a large bay...
It's Saturday! Hot cuppa jo & it's all good!
Day 5 – 2-5 knots with big rolling swells under a lot of slop
With an onshore delay, I sat down on some steps with a friend Bret Beyer from Sydney on my right. Bret is an unbelievable sailor and is on his way to winning his 5th apprentice master...
good morning everyone TGIF!
Day 4 – 3-6 knots with sloppy seas
In Dallas, we practice various ways to sail on lakes with no significant waves. In the open water, there are always waves, even when there is no wind. Lake sailing techniques do not work in open water and are sometimes slow, and...

Day 3 – 8-10 knots with sloppy seas
The good news from race 4: Magnus Olin (SWE) started above me and remembered seeing the pin with me well back, so I should not have been scored OCS. The bad news: the jury would not accept his testimony for my redress because it was filed after the one-hour...
Day 2 – 12-20 knots with 4 foot seas
Race 3 – same conditions, course, and start sequence as yesterday. The line must have been 400 yards long with another good line site. Started mid-line just below Mark Bethwaite (AUS) and was able to point a little higher. A perfect start that was called...
Day 1 – 12-20 knots with 4 foot seas
Race 1: the grand masters (GM) were the forth and last fleet to start in the outer course. The race committee set an unusually long line and after several delays, we started in about 15 knots on the inner trapezoid course. The line looked square and there...
My friend Doug P is competing in Spain & is sending back reports.
I hope you will find them as interesting as I do.
It’s official – the largest Laser fleet ever has gathered for the Master Worlds. A total of 419 competitors will be broken down into different fleets – I’m competing as a Grand...
Yeah, unfortunately Pier 121 may be one of the most sailing unfriendly & dangerous places to put in on Lewisville (imho). One option is DCYC on the north shore. Fewer knuckleheads in power boats on that end of the lake & the club is friendly & there a few laser sailors there (I am one) though I...
semantics |səˈmantiks| plural noun [usu. treated as sing. ] the branch of linguistics and logic concerned with meaning. • the meaning of a word, phrase, sentence, or text : such quibbling over semantics may seem petty stuff.
oops... I'm off topic... ;^)
it's friday... i pulled a sicky & am...
1 gallon of water equals 8.33 lbs.
do the math... 10 or more pounds of movable weight sloshing around can do NO good with pointing, speed, tacking... pretty much sailing in general...
cheers
Many boats of that vintage used colors in sails. yes they are class legal, though i doubt that this sail is in very good shape being this old.
i have had colored spinnakers on a different boat that grew weaker as time passed. I believe that the process to make colored dacron changes the...
SPARE TIRE!
you won't regret it.
you can pick one up at West marine or wal-mart.
nothing is worse than leaving your boat on the side of the road to go & try to track one down... hoping the boat will be there when you return.
I speak from experience.
safe travels!
Re: thanks guys...
The drain plug is an awfully small orifice for evaporation.
here are some things that have worked in the past
possible option 1
weigh it first...
put the output end of a shop vac in the inspection port hole.
snake it back into the hull so you create some circulation.
turn...
exactly what 49208 said...
don't know where you are (I'm sure H'port means something), but the dealers here (TX) are very forthcoming about when the deals happen. Autumn is definitely the time to buy if you can wait.
In stead of moving everything over from the old boat, why not flog old...
quoted from the article in The Post & Courier
"Galloway said the tour boat "came absolutely straight down the middle" of the nearly one-mile-diameter area near Castle Pinckney reserved for the weekend's races. The tour boat "never slowed down until the sailboat popped out of the back and never...
merrily is correct.
not to mention, when you recut sails, you are taking away fabric.
hence, less sail area = slower.
reconditioned sails may be crispy, but still are stretched out.
performance will not be enhanced.
