I'm going to put a new tiller extension "receiver" on an old tiller, which previously had the bolt-on, swiveling wooden extension.
Obviously, I'll need to drill two small holes, one fore and one aft of the big swivel hole, for nut-and-bolting the receiver.
Any tips and tricks that I...

In "Successful Sunfish Racing" by Derrick Fries (also part of The Sunfish Bible), he describes proper upwind mainsheet trim this way:
LIGHT AIR
port [tack] -- over the corner of the transom; starboard -- 2-4" past corner
MEDIUM AND HEAVY AIR
port -- 2" inside corner of transom...
Any results from Sunfish Womens' NAs at Sarasota 21 and 22 October? Sarasota Sailing Squad site congratulates Jackie Sims of Venice as winner, but shows no results as yet.

Recent posting on mainsheet length prompts this question:
In sailing a Sunfish by the lee, I know the airflow reverses over the sail and telltales flow toward the mast, but I've never let the boom out past 90 degrees. Some of the mainsheet-length responses indicated that extra sheet was...
After a recent afternoon of sailing, I noticed a small amount of water inside the hull of my previously dry 2003 hull. I sponged it out, put a shop light inside the inspection port overnight, and all was dry.
Next outing, in a light-air afternoon, another few ounces appeared. Light air meant...
I'd like to add a piece of PVC pipe to my trailer to hold my sail, booms and mast. IIRC, the original Windward Leg/Malcolm Dickinson trailer called for 15 feet of eight inch PVC, while the Bruce Cattanach version called for two, 15 foot lengths of five inch PVC, with a slot cut lengthwise for...

I've searched the forum for all the threads on trailers and trailering. I have the 1991 Windward Leg in which Malcolm Dickinson's trailer is detailed, and I've read Bruce Cattanach's revisions on the Dickinson trailer. All great and very helpful information, which would lead me toward...
I purchased a new (to me) Sunfish this weekend and ran accross something new (to me) in the outhaul rig. Looks like what was described in an old post here about getting the outhaul control into the cockpit.
"You get a line with a veerrry long tail, and after it goes thru the cleat, take it...
Wondering if there's any Sunfish fleet activity north of the border? Special interest around Bathurst, New Brunswick, Toronto and Montreal.
E-mail addresses or website redirects would be appreciated.

It's a work day at the sailing club on Saturday. I'll have the job of checking all the Sunfish hardware, including the club sails and spars. To return halyards and goosenecks a common "starting point," I planned to use Scott Kyle's recommendations (Sunfish Bible, p 352-353). He advocates marks...
I'm curious if anyone has a good single-handed method for launching from seawall.
I live a few houses away from a river. Our street dead-ends there at a small common area with a seawall. Drop to the river is about 3 feet; water next to the seawall is shallow, too: 2-3 feet.
For a...
