    Skeg for 14.2

I checked and it is the correct rudder and the correct length. The rudder measures 17.5 inches below the hull, which is per specification. Thanks for the idea though. Kent

    Tight Centerboard

On the idea of a new weighted centerboard, does anyone have any recommendations on the amount of weight to use and where to place it. I am assuming placement as low as possible but the amount is a mystery to me. Kent

    Tight Centerboard

The gasket is clean and clear of the centerboard. I also did not find any other debris causing the problem. I believe my problem is actually the gap created in the fiberglass hull where the stainless steel brackets are slipped into place. When I reset the centerboard with the brackets...

    Skeg for 14.2

I do try to keep it flat as much as possible. I shift weight and trim the sails to try to stay as balanced as possible. I understand what you mean about the rudder but it seems to occur even when I am generally level.

    Skeg for 14.2

Has anyone tried to install a skeg on a Capri 14.2. The reason I mention this is that the boat is challenging to stay on course and the stern seems to turn very quickly out from underneath me. I was thinking of whether it would need to be two small skegs, one slightly port and one slightly...

    Tight Centerboard

I got it out just fine. It does not appear to be dirty but I will clean and lubricate it before inserting it. Now that I know how to remove it, I have this terrific idea to create a pattern for a new centerboard so that I can have one with more weight. It is just an idea know but may turn...

    Tight Centerboard

I tried at one time to get the centerboard out. I removed the screws but could not determine what I needed to do next to remove the centerboard. I will look at it again and try. I appreciate the quick feedback. Kent

    Tight Centerboard

I have a Mod 2 and have been sailing it for a couple of years. From the beginning I have noticed that the centerboard is very tight and difficult to slide into position. Each time I am having to kick it with my heel to raise or lower the board. Is there something wrong with my centerboard...

    Help!

I just attach one shock cord to one shackle and the other to the other shackle. If you only have one shackle I believe you could attach both shock cords to the one. I you only have one shackle you could find a hook or shackle of some kind at a hardware store or boat store to attach to the...

    Help!

some answers I do not have pics but will try to describe what you have. First the shackles you see are to attach the looped end of the hiking straps for your feet. You may or may not wish to use these. I also use them in my boat to attach the bungee hooks for the centerboard. By the way...

    Destin FL vacation

Going in June I am planning to go in June and looking to take my boat instead. I have contacted Destin Marina at 850.837.2470 and can get in/out from their ramp for $10. Next door there is a company called D&J Dry Storage which I can store the trailer and boat for $20/day. Their address is...

    First capsize

water in the hull JGM I appreciated seeing your post. Very similar story and yes thankfully I did not have my family with me at the time, or the dog which usually wears a life jacket as well. I noticed in your post that the hull took on about 10 gallons of water. Mine did as well in the...

    First capsize

My First as well I had my first capsize and turtleing of my boat a few weeks ago. It started with being unable to sail for nearly a year due to family schedules. I was anxious to get out no matter what. The winds were 15-17 knots as I could tell in the main part of the lake. I started in a...

    Reefing point suggestions needed

thanks for the help I was just logging in to ask this same question. I encountered the exact same problem with to much sail and was looking to see what the reefing point should be for the main. I do not have a rig for reefing and was planning on placing grommets across the main at a...

    Pictures

The day was not much for sailing with no wind, but good for a picture. The boat is new to me and I am loving it.
