The board hums because it is not "fair" or perfect in shape. This is like an out of balance tire on a car vibrating at certain speeds. Racing boat owners spend great somes of time and money to have the blades (keel, rudder) faired to remove the imperfections so the boat travels better through...
Sorry to say no video. There should be some images but I am no certain where they might be. Its tough enough to put race committee together for a couple of days much less having a boat with a driver and a camera operator. Maybe next time someone will get it done.
Great time for the few that came to this year's event. Results are below. RC got 5 races in on Saturday and another 3 on Sunday. Sunny and shifty conditions both days.

I love good math but suck at it. The best VMG chart is when you're on the water getting smoked by the sailors that ignore the vmg chart because they're better than it and you.
It is an impressive chart , congrats.:)
Ed Jones used to be the guy to contact down here in San Diego and I seem to remember Bradley Green being the web guy but not sure if either one is still in the loop. I'd contact Samantha Olenick at MBYC since they are about to host the Nationals this year. Capri 14.2 Fleet Captain is Samantha...
hi ncpirate,
They are part of the co-ed team and will also be competing in the few college mens laser events. The storm destroyed the ODU sailing teams boat dock and classes will start a couple of days late but all else is good.
My sons both attend Old Dominion College in Norfolk. My wife is back there with them getting things set up for this year's classes. Has Norfolk seems to be in the path , they have driven inland just past Richmond to stay with friends on the ODU sailing team. Being we're all from CA, we are not...
Wood screws would be enough to hold the mast step in place. You want the step to come off in the event of a shroud failure. It will keep the boat from being damaged and maybe the mast step from being bent. I speak from personal knowledge.
You should really at least consult a sail maker if not have them do the repair. I think it maybe correct to have some slack in that luff wire. My 2 cents.
Brian Anderson is the PRO for the event being held at Mission Bay Yacht Club in San Diego, CA. The general # for the club is 858-488-0501. Weather has been great in the last few weeks. This weekend past, August 20 and 21 it was sunny , around 72 on the water and wind between 5-11 knots out of...
"Spidey" ,
I only disconnect the forestay pin for trailering . Side stays stay attached and pins taped but I'm only taking the boat 30 miles to the water. No boat is perfect and many of these Capri 14.2s are pretty old so its like caring for an older patient , but one most of us really like...
Why did you buy the boat? Didn't you notice the bent mast step? Just kidding, but if the Hobie is the better solution, you should buy that one and sell the 14.2. Personally I like the Laser better but its a more athletic boat to properly sail.
Just remember all boats wear and cost money...
