    Snap!

For the break under the kicker (vang), did it happen after or as you were gybing? This could be because the top of your mast is twisting with the sail, while the bottom is pressed against the mast step so hard it doesnt twist as fast. This makes it snap right at the deck, which is pretty close...

    720s

if you can't control your boat enough to make a quick gybe when letting your main out, you might be better off keeping it in..You won't lose as much on your gybes this way

    Death Roll Cause

if you are going downwind on a starboard tack what i like to do is have one foot against the front of the cockpit, and the other towards the back, hooked around the hiking strap. This locks me into the boat and makes it easy to force the boat onto a wave. Also, if i start to roll i pull in my...

    Sail repair?

Last year this happened to four sails at my club in 3 days! (One of them was mine) You'll have to open up the seam on the sail if you want to do a 'proper' job of it which will get kind of tricky if you havent done it before. Unless you know how to do it might be best to get a sailmaker to do...

How often do you switch between rigs?

Last year I generally sailed radials, but sometimes I trained in full rigs. I found it pretty good to master the waves and wind in 25 kt in a full rig, and then go into a heavy-air radial regatta. That way I was in full control of the boat downwind. Upwind I could also last longer.

    hiking bench

This is my hiking bench. I built it last winter by measuring off my laser. The dimensions should be pretty good, and it has a rounded edge on the deck, much like the laser. The hiking strap is an extra one for my boat. I also have a rope pulling on a bungee on a purchase system, acting like a...

Class Politics New Scoring System For ALL Sanctioned Laser Regattas

I think many race committees would have a hard time running this system. You basically need to set aside an extra day for this format, because of protests. At a regional, weekend events this would not be feasible. I think this system should only be used at certainl regattas, ie. qualifying...
