yeah its the same as the 06 color. i dont think they were especially for the event because i helped them pack the boats back up into the trailers so they could ship them to dealers. the boats all had 08 on the back.
i didnt go, but i know last year's smythe had the light blue and red boats...
wrong. they were 08's fresh from the factory, supplied by vanguard. it wasnt the 07 baby blue, and they were brand new. go look at the photos if you dont believe me:

my friend has a realllly sick one thats wayy lighter than my acme. ill see if i can get a picture of it tomorrow. it CAN be done. his was made from scratch.
its an oval carbon tube, with the top end extending flat to attach the tiller extension. he might have used an old acme end piece...
They can be as cold or as warm as you want them to be. That changes with whatever socks you wear with them. If its hot out, wear like thin liners like say running socks or something. If its cold out, get out a pair of ski socks. And though ive warn them w/o socks once cause it was just that...
if youre serious with racing, get a pair of aigle maramus. they are hands down the best. if not, cant go wrong with the gills.
heres a good overall selection. get ones that look like they have good padding on the top of the foot.

that shouldntve happened... i mean its carbon for goodness sake.... mustve had a defect. ive sheered the bolts holding the rudder universal in, but have never broken the tiller or extension themselves.
general tips
1.a piece of chewing gum gets the taste of salt outta your mouth
2.wash and take care of your gear and boat after every sail (no matter how tired you are)
general sailing tips
1.never be on the outside of the leward mark rounding. stop your boat if you need to (after you get...
Throw them in the washing machine after every time you use them. ive made a pair last over 6 months that way. there wasnt much grip left after 6 months, but it was still better than the gill ones i used to have. well worth it.
i have 3 sails. one is a 1973 barely used, yet still ancient sail (used for the first time by myself today), one is a beat beat beat sail that was blown out 10 years ago it seems, and one is a brand new hyde.
my imput- as long as it hasnt stretched its ok. wrinkles could kill some speed...
upwind in flat water, sit forward, but when there are waves, then whats been said takes into effect
downwind, getting back also keeps the bow from digging into the waves... pitchpulling lasers is no fun. the mast is hard.
Fortunately, I myself have not been involved in too many capsizes (laugh!), well at least too many spectacular ones. There is one capsize that my friend did that I think is one of the most spectacular I have ever seen. I was sailing behind him in a race, with about 15-20knots of breeze. We...
haha ive never climbed the mast, but ive sailed rudderless and centerboardless in like no wind, by crawling all the way up on the bow and sailing from there... quite fun
i hate it when that happens... i tie the mainsheet to the back of the hiking strap, the outhaul and cunningham to the front, and the vang to the centerboard... that always works best for me....
my first login in a good few months... my boat that ive been working on is #9572
its almost done, the hull looks great with a brand new blue awlgrip finish... all i need to do is instal the deck fittings, finish my centerboard, and re-rivet the mast... thats IT!... my boat will be done! all it...
