    Tomales Bay Laser sailing

Just a really nice Laser sailing day on Tomales Bay, CA, USA. I started out filming my friend's SCAMP, and then the wind piped up for perfect Laser (OK, ILCA) conditions.

    Leak test

I have a serious hull leak and it's not in the usual (hull/deck joint, cockpit bailer/hull interface) place that I can find. I think there's a thread that I can't locate which describes the technique for soap bubble testing?

Harken 433 Hook for outhaul clew

Has anyone ever experienced this hook "unhooking" while sailing? I did once and it was a real pain, out in stiff wind. Maybe I had an operator malfunction?

    Padded shorts?

Hi, I'm 72 and in decent shape, In fact, I now feel more comfortable hiking out on my Laser than when I sit on the deck. Why? I have a bony, no-padded butt! Has anyone recommendations for shorts that have some decent seat padding? Not looking for hiking shorts or anything with...

    Laser "squarehead" sail

Does anyone remember this larger sail (not the Hansen Turbo) that Intensity used to carry? I know they aren't made any more and if I had the correct name/description I would probably post separately to see if anyone has a used one for sale.

My Laser was hit by a car!

It was on my trailer, and we were stopped at a red traffic light, on the way home after a great day sailing on Tomales Bay, CA. A kid in the car behind mistook the accelerator for the brake in his mom's car. The car struck the Laser dead center on the transom, and drove it forward about 4...

    Bottoms Up.

My 1981 Irish Laser has withstood 38 years of beach launching - dragged over rocks and oyster shell - at Tomales Bay, CA. When my friend Doug saw it lying on her side he said "bring it thing over and we'll put some lipstick on that pig." So, here it is: Two thin coats of epoxy/graphite...

Rode Hard and put away wet

(Caution! may contain disturbing images) My Laser is an Irish hull, built in 1981. Since 1982 I have beach launched it. And the stones and gravel of Tomales and SF Bay have scored the hull a bit. This may look frightening and I know if I got a new one I'd take better care of it, but it is...

    Lasering under new flag(s)
