    Tunes on the Sunfish

I agree with you. Anything else would probably be too distracting for me.

    Never sailed before, some questions

Thought I'd also post some of the pictures of the experiance. Whops! (Wo)man overboard!

Even if I'm small, can I still stand tall?

I have noticed that during my training.

    accepting sympathy now

I can definately understand how you feel. I've almost broke mine many times while TaeKwonDo fighting. Infact, I even did my white sail I/II with a knee injury but that's a different story really. Not that I recommend sailing while injured though. Because now I can't even walk very well and I've...

    Never sailed before, some questions

Completed my course now, got my White Sail I/II. Yes, those Escapes were not the best things to be learning with indeed. Climbing back onto them after capsizing was NOT FUN. Especially when your whole body is shivering. As soon as I moved onto the Pirates, it was so much better. As for an...

Even if I'm small, can I still stand tall?

As you've probably heard or read my user title, I'm a midget. I'm only 5'1 and I'm sick of being short. I'm 17 now and it doesn't seem like I'm going to get any taller. I always get lost in the crowd and not to mention in movie theatres someone's head blocks my view. Buying clothes is such a...

    Never sailed before, some questions

Abit of an update here. I started my sailing course and I already capsized (unintentionally) atleast 5 times! It's frustrating at first, but I'm not surprized. Good thing is, I didn't feel seasick when I was out on the water, but say, an hour later after sailing, I felt like I was still on the...

    Olympic sailing?

Just out of curiousity, how come olympic sailing teams don't wear lifejackets? Is it not mandatory? Or do they think they'll never capsize or fall off the boat? You can see from the pictures here: http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2008-08/17/xinsrc_522080517155117105971.jpg...

    Sailing lessons with injury

Will be soon. Have a feeling it isn't going to be cheap either.

    Sailing lessons with injury

It's tendonitis in the left knee. The doctor told me there isn't much that can be done about the injury, other than resting and avoiding heavy exercise.

    Sailing lessons with injury

Nevermind about what to wear for sailing lessons, I've got a different question now. Three months ago, I sustained a knee injury likely from Tae Kwon Do fighting. The thing is, it has been hurting on and off every now and then and I find it difficult to walk down stairs (been using elavators...

Can anyone explain me about laser's photochemical effect?

Speaking of lasers, I've actually had some laser work done on my arms and legs to remove some of the ugly scarring I have acumulated from "unpleasent experiances". It did not work well and just hurt like heck as freezing is not used. The type of laser used is a 694.3 nm or ruby laser. The same...

    Never sailed before, some questions

Hopefully by late June - early July, I will have lost enough weight to fit in one. Even made a tracker thing in my signature. Like I said I cannot expose my arms or legs because I am allergic to sunscreen lotion as well as some ugly scarring. I would have to wear long sleeves/legs for that...

    Never sailed before, some questions

Not sure what type of boat I'll be learning on yet. Even though it might be cold, I guess I'll just try and deal with it. Do you know approximately how long you'd be in the water for while trying to right the boat from capsize recovery?

    Never sailed before, some questions

I will be sailing in the ocean (Jericho Beach to be exact). I've put my hand in the water before once time just to test the temperature. Like I said already, I don't fit into a wetsuit being so "underheight" and my dad doesn't want me putting down $160 for a custom one "until I start...

    Never sailed before, some questions

I have some technical type clothes that I wear under my uniform in Tae Kwon Do and will probably be wearing that for sailing too. I will definately be wearing long sleeves and pants because I am allerigic to sunscreen and don't want to get sunburned.

Floatation vests I don't have a problem with fitting into. I've already signed up for the course and will be starting it at the end of June. So excited!

    Never sailed before, some questions

Thanks for that Wetsuit Warehouse link. They have a full length suit that can be custom fitted going for $160. Everywhere else I can order custom suits from seems to go over $250-$300 which is abit too much for a beginner to be spending.

    Never sailed before, some questions

Again, only if I could fit into a wetsuit... :( You are guarenteed to get wet, as like I said we'll be doing capsizing and righting the boat. And you will have to remain wet untill you get back on shore and take a nice warm shower.

    Never sailed before, some questions

The boats I'll be learning on are 1-2 person boats. The instructor may just go with one person per boat to make things simpler. Just wondering, is it really uncomfortable sitting on the sailboat with water soaked clothing after capsizing and righting the boat? We don't get to choose whether...
