I have an older fish in great condition. I want to make it last. Has anyone installed the metal mast wear plate from intensity? Do you think using 4200 would be enough?

Love my boat. I got a new intensity frp rudder blade this year and what a difference! The boat handles much better. My last rudder had a warp to it, and I guess that had more of an effect than I originally thought. Big difference!
Hi,
Just had a great day on the water. Just had a few questions.
When I tack my mainsheet sometimes gets wrapped
around the stern's lip on the corner. Anyway to avoid this?
Also I seem to be taking too much time at the ramp (I have heard a comment).
What's the quickest way to rig? Raise my mast...
I was on my local shop's website, and I noticed they are now giving the option of purchasing a Laser - hull only. I wonder if Laser Performance will give the Sunfish - hull only, purchase option soon too. Great idea considering the price of a new boat. Not all people need a new rig...
My wife bought me an FRP Rudder for Christmas from Intensity. I enquired if they had any plans to produce a Sunfish coaming in the future. Turns out they are working on a mold as we speak.
My Sunfish is a 72. I noticed at the bottom of the mast tube the center is about 1/2 inch lower than the edges. It is like a circle has been cut out of the bottom. Is this normal? Or should I install a wear plate?
Hi,
I have a 72' hull in great condition. The hull has never had an
inspection port. I installed one and at the end of the season I stored
the hull in my dry garage. When I first felt the inside of the hull it
seemed very dry. Now every time I feel the inside of the hull
it seems to develop...
Hi,
I saw unfinished rudder blades on EBay for a fairly
reasonable price. They were made from red oak.
I asked if the rudder had dowels, and was told yes.
Is red oak suitable for a Sunfish blade?
Hi,
I have a 72' sunfish in better than average condition. I was thinking about installing
A hiking strap over the winter, but is this really necessary ? Can I get away with just
tucking my feet under the oposite cockpit lip? Will this damage the boat over time?
I really don't want to cut...
I am still amazed at the condition of my used Sunfish. It is a 72' model, but barely has any scratches. It must have been well taken care of over the past 40 or so years. Or barely sailed at all. The cockpit looks brand new to me, barely a scuff mark. The deck and hull have few scratches. Also...
Currently I have had a friend towing me and my trailer to the water while I save up for a hitch for my car. On the last trip, the trailer lights didn't work. I have been given a Multimeter. Can I use this to test the flat - 4 pin connection? How do I use this thing?

Hi,
So today I went for a sail. Winds were quite strong and there was a 3 foot swell once I got out into the harbor.
When I came back in I was in a bit of a precarious position. To get into the harbor you go down a narrow channel
With two giant steel piers on either side. The problem was it...
Hi,
This is probably a silly question, but I am unsure about. I store my sail and spars in the sail bag that came with my intensity sail. When I was finished with my Laser sail, I would fold it up. How do you store the Sunfish sail? Do you loosen the out-hauls? Or just leave everything as is...
Hi,
This weekend will be my boat's maiden voyage (I have had some trailer issues). A little late I know, but I have fowl weather gear, and a steamer wetsuit that should get me to the end of October. My question is, I have 5' long trailer bunks. Do I need to attach the bow to a winch, or will...
Hi,
I have been using my new trailer. To tie down my boat I have some straps that are probably identical to these intensity straps (see photo) left over from my Windsurf days. I have been wrapping these around the boat and bunks. Should I be wrapping these around the frame instead of the bunks...
Hi,
I am new to trailer sailing. In the past I would keep my boat on a dolly at my local sailing club. I ordered one of those red made in China trailers in a box. Looks like the HF trailer, but a little different. I personally have never assembled a trailer. Does anyone have any tips on...
Hi,
Is replacing the old style metal bailer ball as simple as unscrewing the cap
and dropping the new ball in? In the plastic bailer the ball rests against a rubber ring. When I look in my old style bailer, no ring. Should I use the one provided in the replacement pack. Do I have to unscrew the...
