I followed the same steps that Alan suggested and was able to bend the bracket into shape. I would much rather bend it on a vise rather than try to bend it while attached to the stern.
I just went on to the Kokatat website to check the drysuits out and holly cow drysuits are not cheap at all. I was thinking I might do frostbite sailing but now I'm not so sure.
Your upper spar looks like it has quite a bit of corrosion. The eye bolt that the S hook attaches to looks like it's about to break off.
You can shorten the spar by cutting off some of the length and reattaching the cap and eye bolt.
I'd make sure everything is in good shape before you go...
Not really. Viking spars where exactly the same as Sunfish spars and I think you would be hard pressed to see a difference but the spars on this thread are Sunfish spars but of an older vintage. They added the new end caps to protect the deck from getting scraped by the eye bolt but I'm not...
Don't do what I did when I restored a wooden Sunfish 40 odd years ago when I was in my teen's. I left it in my parents backyard under a tarp for a few years and it decomposed into nothing. The only items I have left are the spars. The mast was turned into a lamp post by my father.
It's last...
I'm not sure. I would be leery of using these. Especially when looking at the length of the screws. I'm sure they're fine for a kayak but a Sunfish might have issues since the dry weight is 139 lbs and if there's water in the hull it could easy go much higher.
Intensity Sail sells a couple of low price ratchet blocks which are both manual. I have the Harken 2135 which is $80 but there is also the Nautos block which is $40. I'm happy with the Harken. Maybe someone on this forum has experience with the Nautos?
You'll also need a standup spring and a...
I installed a port with a bag in the front wall of my Sunfish and I'm really happy with it. The only issue you might have is trying to screw the nuts onto the bolts since you won't have very much room with a 4" port as Tag said.
Beekeeper, I didn't go through an insurance agent but went directly to the registry. It was a very easy process. I just had to show them a bill of sale and explain that there wasn't any kind of VIN on the trailer. I'm sure that the sticker peeled off years ago.
