    mast down cover suggestions?

AQBill - I love that setup! Someday......I'll get one. I just wanted to say that your setup would be compatible with the hardware rack I made. Take a look at my album and tell me what you think it.

    my sailing inspiration

No shame, If I didn't want to share I would have kept it to myself! The funny thing about this sharing of information is that you'll look at it, and then build something even better and more refined then mine. And that's where the pay-off is. A design that is evolving and bouncing around the...

    my sailing inspiration

Thats a riot! That line "keep sailing Bob" at the end is what my wife told me after my first trip out on the lake! Priceless! Also, I posted some more pics of my hardware hauler for you.

    Cradle for mast/sail when transporting?

This was my answer. The rudder, dagger board, and tiller arm are all secured. The sail, with everything else, goes up top in the big rubber mounts. The ratchet tie downs are also bolted on. Look at my album on here if you want to see some more pics.

Busy indeed! My goal was to be able to keep the hardware out of the back of my truck. The wood just seems to damage too easily while traveling back there. My second goal was for this contraption to be light enough that one person can handle it. Having the tie down straps mounted was just a...

Thank you Wayne for the confirmation. I was thinking of adding center bunks to connect the V shaped bunks together. I wanted to increase the rigidity of the V bunks and form more of a cradle. Not so much for keeping the nose off of the center of the trailer but just for strength. Your idea did...

LindaP - I feel a little nervous giving you advice on things like this because I'm new to the SunFish as well. But, I feel like I did most of my homework and I haven't been told by anyone on here that I did something wrong. So, with that in mind...I placed the bunks as far apart as I could on...

Thanks for the compliments! Really though, I'm just a good problem solver.....and a redneck....hence the ingenuity! I had several small pieces of gypsum left over from a bathroom renovation so it was a perfect reason to get them out of my shop. It ended up being just what was needed! The "chain...

I have seen a John boat in the back of a Full size pickup that was supported with 3 carpeted bunks in the bed, one at the end of the tailgate and the last, 5th, bunk was plugged into his reciever hitch. It was kicked out at a 45 degree angle and supported the last 1/3 of the boat. It looked like...

Im following you 67stang.....some where on here is some pics of the inside of a Sunfish. Its is not a stamped pice of plastic. (Think of a trucks plastic bed liner) It looked more like layed fiberglass, which I wasnt expecting. Am I correct on this?

Never mind.....Amarillo huh? Hows things in the flat lands? Still FLAT I suppose! I lived there for 23 years and graduated from AHS in "99". My parents and in-laws are still there. After 6 years in the Army I ended up in Temple, which is about a hour north of Austin. Central Texas is perfect for...

Adding weight helps! Even when I pull my Sunfish behind my 1974 Honda 900 Motorcycle adding a little weight helps. When being pulled behind my Dodge Dakota I have a eazy-up, charcoal grill, and any other camping equiptment I can cram onto the trailer to help with fish-tailing and bounceing. If...
