    Dagger Board trunk repair

My daughter ran aground and split the trunk on our '73 Sunfish. The way I realized it was when I I tried to lift it to drain to drain it, and when I did, it took minutes to empty. There was also a crack in the transom that I repaired at the same time. I think the wave action on the hull...

    track for SF over rip-rap?

We have a rack for a pair of SF. The problem is getting the boats over the 3' stack of rock at the edge of the beach. I was thinking of a ladder-shaped track made out of pvc and a hand winch to move the boats up and down the track. Anyone do anything like this?

    inspection port in cockpit

I am about to install an inspection port in the forward wall of the cockpit. Other than being off center to avoid the dagger trunk, is there any measurements for best position? I'm doing this to allow access to the dagger trunk, since it is split and I am going to glass it from the inside...

    Pc-7 epoxy paste?

Does anyone have any experience with PC-7 epoxy paste? Sounds like it would be fine for the crack down my daggerboard trunk. I'd still glass over it on the inside of the hull. This seems like it would be a good adhesive & filler.

    dagger trunk repair?

I noticed the daggerboard was deeply notched on opposite sides; one high, one low; so it looks like my daughter ran aground. After a closer look at the damaged boat this weekend I found the lower aft if the dagger trunk is split or cracked (about 6 inches). I can see the crack from the outside...

removing trim for repair and dagger trunk question

After my daughter was sailing, she couldn't pull the boat onto the beach alone. I was surprized how heavy it was and realized it had taken on quite a bit of water. I then realized it has a leak at the top corner of the transom and it appears to continue under the aluminum trip. I found it...

    sunfish parts diagram?

I had a link to a PDF of a sunfish diagram with all the names of the parts (not part numbers). It may have been on the yahoo group, but I couldn't find it there either. can someone point me in the right direction? I want to use it for a graphic to print onto a rash guard shirt.

    mid atlantic regatta?

There was an annual sunfish regatta last summer off of VA or NC. I'd like to plan for it, but can't find anything about it since I can't remember any important details. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

ratchet block/cam cleat /swivel base diagram?

Someone posted a drawing (or photo) of a ratchet block/cam cleat /swivel base that was put together using a Harken H240 base and a block that works well on the sunfish. Can anyone point me in the direction or post it again? And APS had a Harken sale last year about this time, I thought. Is...

    sunfish dvd?

Can someone recommend a dvd that would show me the basics of sailing the sunfish? I feel like I don't know where to sit or put my legs. Or maybe I just need to read the sunfish bible. Its too cold outside now, but it would get me thinking of warmer days.

    thanks to all

After months of lurking and months of questions & posts answered, I finally got my SF in the water. I just wanted to thank everyone for their willingness to share both their time and their vast knowledge. Without this forum, and the yahoo user group, I would have never even looked at a Sunfish...

    outhaul line

I realized I'll need to replace this when I install the new sail (I have the rings already). Can I use line I get from lowes? If so, what am I looking for- width and material?

after a closer look, it seems that my 35 year old nylon pulley has seized. Is the replacement bullseye a direct fit or should I fashion a way to attach a new pulley?

    tiller hardware

I'm in the process of refinishing the daggerboards and rudders of two sunfish ('73-'74) and I have disassembled them all. The connecting hardware on the two tillers is all mix-n-match. Some bolts are stainless, some have split lock washers , some have double nuts and some use nylon lock nuts...

    keel is spongy

This boat ('73) has been in the garage for most of a year and has yet to see water with me. I installed an inspection port a month or so ago. It was damp inside and is drying, and I haven't yet done a leak test. When I turned it on its side, this part of the keel was wet and soft. I can't...

    cracks in rudder and daggerboard

They start in the bottom edge and are about 5" long, so the boards are not split all the way up, but on their way. I was thinking a waterproof wood glue injected in there as well as I can or a runny epoxy to do the same thing. Then re-varnish the board. Any thoughts?

I need repair the bailer and drain plug on my sunfish and I am not certain what parts I need to order from aps. http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d90000/e88842.asp I'd like to keep the bailer housing, I just need the ball, gasket & cap. Will the current replacement parts (plastic, I think) fit...
