Pictures would be just fabulous!!! There might be a way to get some replica foils made of wood. But I am not sure if I should go for a compromise?!

Absolutely right!!! The rubber strip is the key to good kinetics in Lasersailing. As "Mullet Time" already pointed out, especially for pushing the boat through big waves.

It is a bowline with a braided handle for better grip. For tightening you pull that handle and for loosening it you just pull the part of the loop on the other side.

I do something similiar already when I rig my laser. After coiling it I throw the roostersheet away keeping one end of it in my hand ;) . Now i put the sheet (very loose) back in the laser without coiling it and dead end it there. And it works just great!! Markus
