beach dolly attached through rudder gougeons

I've heard of these. Any commercially available? Plans? A dumb idea?? I searched the archives with no luck

So the weight of the boat is supported by the gudgeons? :eek:

That seems like a bad idea. I don't think those fittings are designed for that kind of load.
 
Uh, I'm not sure what you mean.

I transport my dolly on the road by putting it upside down on the trailered boat, and attaching it at the stern with a small pin permanently mounted on the dolly that fits into the gudgeon.

Is that what you meant?
 
I know what you mean. I had one of these a long time ago, back in the 80s. It was fairly small (maybe 1 foot tall by 1 foot wide), white plastic. The hull sat on a small horizontal support molded in to the plastic just above the axle so the weight of the boat sat on the support, not the gudgeons. There was a long pin that went through the gudgeons and two vertical tubes molded into the plastic to hold it to the transom. The wheels were about 8" diameter, hard rubber, so it was ok on a hard surface but didn't work too well on sand
