Laser 2 transport

I am planning on purchasing a Laser 2 and was wondering if anyone has been able to transport it (car-top) using a roof rack on a sedan. I have a 4-door BMW 325i and, due to limited space/property, would ideally like to be able to transport the Laser 2 via roof rack, but it doesn't look like it's possible.

All of the roof racks I have checked out have a weight capacity of 165 pounds, whereas the hull weight of the Laser 2 is around 174 pounds (I'm also not sure of the roof rack weight capacity of my car). Plus, I would most likely have at least an hour drive before I got to a decent place to sail.

So has anyone been able to transport a Laser 2 via roof rack (on a mid-size sedan) or is a trailer the ideal way of transporting it?

Personally; I'd always use a trailer for anything bigger than a topper; it takes a lot of effort to put it up on the car roof; and a lot can get damaged. IMO; I would use a trailer; the Laser II is quite heavy.....

Check how much the racks bend when you put the boat on top.

a l2 is really no bigger deal then a laser. if you would be willing to car top a laser then feel free to to the same here
