looking for Hull paint schemes for ideas on colors and stripes

does anyone know of a web site with color pictures or plans, layouts of some or all of the sunfish paint jobs over the 50 years. I am painting a boat and would like some ideas of nice layouts of stripes etc. The hull is currently hatteras white top and bottom. would like to put a blue stripe on either vertical or on an angle. I would like to know the proper width etc. thanks in advance.

Here are some of the color schemes over the years, gathered from sales brochures. There are likely more combinations than listed here. Maybe owners with boats from each generation will post examples.


1952 – 1968 . . . Wood Boat
Solid color from factory, Red, Blue, Green –or- whatever a kit builder chose to do.

1959 – 1963 . . . Fiberglass Boat
Solid colors, Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, or White

1963 – 19?? . . . Solid Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, or
White w/Red Stripes or Blue Stripes on foredeck only

19?? – 1972 . . . Solid Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, White or
Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, White w/contrasting Stripes on foredeck only

1973 - . . . Diagonal stripes added to rear deck and matching colored cockpits,
also added - USCG red-orange hull w/yellow deck and red-orange stripes

1977 - . . . Nearly all hulls white w/contrasting color stripes or plain white
exception, USCG red-orange hull w/yellow deck and red-orange stripes

1980s . . . Pastel blue, pastel yellow, or plain white w/contrasting stripes

1987 - 2006 . . . Diagonal stripes dropped for Shelby Cobra style mid-line stripe
White deck w/blue, Red deck w/white, Yellow w/white, or plain white deck

2007 / 08 . . . Diagonal fore and aft stripes reintroduced. Navy surplus grey deck

is that your boat in the picture? Any chance you could let me know what the measurments are of the location on the boat of the stripes and the width of the stripes? I am 90% sure that is the best stripe pattern I want to put on this boat i am painting. thanks again!

I just painted the small stripes, and they are 1". About 1 1/4" between them and the large stripe. I would have to guess on the large stripe, but 3" I think.
