This year's Merrimac will be held on May 27. NOR and official website should be up and running by the end of the week as well as entry form. As always, regatta is open to all boats 22' and under. Any 4 boats of the same class will recieve a seperate one design start; so four Sunfish equals a Sunfish start. The mixed classes will be scored using the Portsmouth Yardstick system.
Unless there are any objcetions we will most likely allow Sunfish knock offs (dragonflys, aquafinns, sun dolphins, etc...) to race with the Sunfish in an attempt to get a seperate start.
www.merrimacregatta.org should be up and running by Friday. In the meantime, check out www.seadated.com for pics and results from previous years, as well as a Merrimac forum.
Also check out Portsmouthboatclub.org for more merrimac info.
We will again be offering free camping and/or boat storage at the Portsmouth Yacht Club for out of town compettitors.
Thanks,
-Jack

The NOR is available at seadated.com/merrimac
That is the temporary site. www.merrimacregatta.org will be the official website and will be available tonight at midnight.
Please let me know if any of you plan to attend so I can order trophies and what not.
I honestly expected a bigger response from this forum since I do not know of any other Sunfish friendly regattas in the Southern Chesapeake, or any part of VA for that matter? There are enough Sunfish around the area, why doesn't anyone race them?
Let me know if there is something I can do to make the race more enticing to the fleet.
Thanks.

www.merrimacregatta.org is up and running. Info including the NOR, online entry form, directions, a chart of the race area, pictures from last year, and results are all available.
Please pre-register if you plan to attend.
Thanks,
-Jack

We need more Sunfish in order for there to be a Sunfish one design start at the Merrimac. Tell all of your friends with Sunfish to come to Portsmouth, VA and race. We need a total of 4 to get a start. I probably pass 6 Sunfish in people's yards on the way to work everyday, all we are doing asking people to sail them!
