Funny story. My Grandfather neighboor was moving, so he said I could have the Fish in his garage. So, I take it. Its dirty, but the sail was in OK shape. So I take the sail home to my house to keep it out of the weather in the garage. Then my garage burns down. So, the insurance buys me a new sail, mast and lines and such. So I picked out a Mackinaw style sail.

When I cleaned the hull, much to my suprise, the gelcoat shined! Its great! Pictures of it cleaned up to come.

Now I need something to tow it. I dont think the Miata can handle it...

Actually the Miata probably can handle it if you have a very light trailer like of the Alum. Trailex brand. As you got the boat for free, you can now spring for an expensive, light trailer!

It is amazing how well gel coat holds up on abandoned boats. I once got a '76 hull that had been sitting outdoors for years in the shade and had about an inch of lichens growing on the bottom. When removed and cleaned with a bleach product, the gelcoat was like new.

It also came with a trailer! But, its stout. I have a hitch on the Miata, for pulling a small harbor freight trailer with racing wheels and tires. The Miata starts with 2 inches travel on the rear suspension, and mine has been lowered 3/4 of an inch...So thats not alot of travel before I hit the bumpstops. Fortunately, my girlfriend has a Ranger, and I can borrow my dads Silverado, so I should be all set.

Lol... that looks funny! Fortunatly for me I took out a slip at my local yacht club so all I will need is a dolley inwhich they have. Its not bad... somewhere around $150 :p per year for the slip.
