Hi i've just brought a laser with a brand new hull and the only number that i can find on it is on the transom. should there be another number somewhere else that i may have missed or is there only 1.
one other think the number on the back is GB PSE LS58 76B808 could anyone tell me the approximate build date?
the sail number of the boat is 158383 is this correct?

thank you.

hulls year 2008 and a hull produced in 08 shouldn'T have a sail number at 15..... now its at 19.....Your sail number is written on a sticker which is placed where the hiking strap is tied.If you dont hve the sticker(i have the same problem) i think the only way to learn the sail number is callang the laserperformance

hi i brought the boat saturday and the hull is brand new after an insurance claim when a windsurfer flipped and made a hole in the deck. so a brand new hull and 3 rigs but no xd kit.( does anyone think its worth £1600 thats what i paid)

sailingmania, "B808" says: the hull is built in Febr. 2008 and is designed like the modelyear of 2008 (f.e. at my Laser the last 4 letters/numers at the transom are "L102" = built in Dec 2000 but the hull is designed like the modelyear 2001, sail number is 1714.. )

1600 B-Pound is definitely extremly cheap for a new hull with all Laser-"classic" equipement. A new hull only, at Europe (no fittings etc, no spars, no sail, no foils, etc.) does cost about 3000 to 4000 Euro at the store. Everyone would be envious about your Laser here at Europe on the continental side, you made a nice christmas bargain.

so if your hull is replaced due to an insurance claim, you get the latest hull number to replace your existing number or do you carry on with your existing number & a new hull ? I was under the assumption that no numbers are on the tamper-proof stickers fitted to replacement hulls.

Sorry, I made a mistake: "L102" is wrong. Correct is "L001"

hi yes, i think i got a bargain lol
the hull is a very lightweight one with a recipt of july 2008.
still havent looked for number by the toestrap yet.
laser sell a new sail number and documents so what i might do is buy a sail number for my laser and then in theory it is a brand new boat lol 9 i will ahve made loads of money!!!) lol

When this happened to a lad at my local club he got a new hull and a new sail number! The person who sold you it has made a big boo boo!

You have got a very good deal, your official sail number should be the 18xxxx or 19xxxx number that gets allocated to the hull. The old number just gets written off. The windsurfer must have done some hull damage as well as deck damage or they would have just re-decked the boat.

well the person i brought the bot off kept the old hull oterwise laser were just going to cut it p but is was very scratched and he wanted it polished as well and laser wouldnt do it because they dont like doing it because they dont know how thick the gel coat actually is so they rarely pilsih hulls.
