Hi folks...How do you determine when you need a new mainsheet ?...How long do they generally last ?...Should you worry about how they are stored ?
 
Fraying is an obvious sign. How long the sheet will last depends on many factors.
Many Laserites use Rooster Polilite, which lasts a long time.
Protect your sheet from sunlight when not in use.
 
My Poilite has lasted 4 seasons so far and it looks like it has a few more in it. I always rinse it after sailing, make sure it drys and then put it in the gear bag which I keep inside my house.
 
And flip it end for end occasionally, mine always wears out first at the ratchet block area when two blocked upwind.
