How to Rig a Laser 2

Does anyone know of any directions on how to setup a Laser 2 (vang, outhaul, cunningham, etc.) I found a pdf of the Laser somewhere, but not the 2.

Sorry for the confusion. I am looking for both. I am getting a Laser 2 and only have photographs of the boat on its trailer. The previous owner was gracious enough to take closeups of the stuff that was connected, but I have no idea how to rig the rest. In addition, I am missing the spinnaker sheets so I will need the lengths of them.

Check out www.laser2sailing.org - the is a great website to start with. Hunt around there is a chart on line lengths. I believe you can also get this off of the Vanguard website. They also have a link to the rigging guide. Or google Laser 2 or Laser II and you will certainly come up with a bunch of stuff.

Jib, pretty much self expanitory, like any small head sail.

Main Sheet, rigs like a Laser.

Cunningham (Main downhaul) like a Laser. I like to start at the mast, through the tack of the sail and then down to the jam cleat.

Main outhual - Like a laser. I like to start with a tight bowline to the fairlead on the end of the boom, then through the clew, back to the fairlead and thnn forward to the jam cleat- gives 2:1

The standard small boat Boom vang with Fiddle blocks comes with LII's

Main halyard is all rope with a small shackle. I upgraded mine to a captive pin shackle and siezed the shackle to the Halyard. Prevents loss.

The Jib halyard is wire to rope. Make the transition from rope to wire as clean as possible, no knots, to prevent it from hanging up in the mast on hoist or quick dousing.

As for the set-up that is up to you and where you sail. I have fairly high winds on Georgian Bay, so tend to keep thing fairly flat, and the jib leads set mid, to outboard. Read what you can and get out and sail, you will find your boats grove soon enough!!

Hope this helps
Go out and get wet.

Check out the US class association site: http://laser2.est.org/ The guy that runs it is a great source of information and helped me quite a bit when I bought my L2. Another great resource is the NALaser2 group on YahooGroups. Lots of owners and crew on there.

Someone sent me this (see attachment) when I first got my Laser 2. It was extremely useful!

Hope you enjoy the boat! :)
