I recently picked up a 1981 14' Laser sailboat for next to nothing and am new to the whole sailing thang. I hope next i will be able to race it. here are some pics of my boat its in very good condition

Looks like a tiller extension would be a good thing to put on your shopping list

Hello Weee,
Welcome the the Laser community, I hope the way you have shown your Laser in the pictures isn't the way you plan to sail it. Look up a link for rigging the old style rigging (pre-2001 upgrade package) on either here (The Laser Forum) or the internet. Or even better see if you can contact a local Laser sailor to perhaps show you the ropes (no pun intended) in rigging the Laser.
Wavedancer was spot on you'll definately need to add a tiller extension in order to sail even semi-efficiently.

p.s. I think contacting your District secretary will be very helpful in finding someone in your area to show you the ropes and greatly reduce those learn as you swim frustrations that will be a great part of your first year of laser sailing!
