Sustained winds of 18-25 with gusts to (one of them) 40 mph.
1st. Turn down your sound.
2nd. Click on the gear and set quality to 720 HD, then select FULL SCREEN.
15:00 to 17:00 shows the 2 foot rollers and whitecaps.
46:30 to 49:30 shows a 280 pound fat boy sailing it flat in a fun wind.

Your weight is a big advantage in high winds, I only weigh 145 lbs
so I have to hike out and depower the sail. Advantage is on my side
with very light winds. Kind of makes weather a major player if you are
into racing. As they say, "Sail it Flat!"

I was watching that same wind from my Lake Winnipesaukee porch, and there was only one boat out during daylight hours. It was a large 30+ foot sailboat, and when he tacked, the jib shook so violently, all his battens flew out!

That was enough "sailing" to send him back to his mooring.

Um?.......
Wow!

Man that looks like fun. On the edge of controlled and uncontrollable.......... Cant wait to try that someday.

Great video.

Stache, that was great. It was like a Sunfish version of the Volvo Ocean Race, packed into 56 minutes! It had everything.

- Equipment fine tuning while visiting Mr. Tomato Plants.
- A near miss with a breaking roller that passed just behind your stern.
- Finessing uncooperative figure eight knots
- A documented capsize of one of your fellow Sunfish-ers.
- And lots of spray!

That must have been a fun sail. Thanks for sharing.

Nope...... That "um" was n response to how surprised I was to see a big ole' guy get thrown around by mother nature, and still have fun harnessing her fury. There were times it seemed like he was on the edge of controllability - an awesome reminder to me of what awaits, out on the open water.
