Our buddy Alan scored an Alcort Saifish and brought it down to us from NY. She is sweet! Originally bright yellow, we will get her together this Spring. Welcome Spray to the Lewis menagerie.

WOW. I have one exactly like that and i am working on getting it ready to sail. I have been trying to find more info on it, love to hear more. All the part look exactly the same.

Thanks for the offer, SO i should be calling mine a sailfish
2 things, i am looking for a mast, or is there something I can substitute for the mast?
and a trailer, looks like harbor freight might be a good possibility

Also,
What do you think is the value of a boat like that.
I will be taking a sailing lesson or two this summer, by a local Captain, that teaching sailing on these boats, looks like fun.

Hi

Sailfish 11'7", wooden
Super Sailfish 13'7", wooden
Super Sailfish MKII 13'7", fiberglass

I'd find a Sunfish mast and use that. The Sailfish mast is 9 feet vs 10 feet, 2 inch diameter. Or make one from sitka spruce or douglas fir.

The Harbor Freight Small Boat Trailer is a good fit: 600 Lb. Capacity Boat Trailer & Other Small Boat Trailers

The value of boats depends on condition, regional availability and the wants/needs of the buyer. In the NE I'd say low $100s, in the South and West mid to high $100s. They really want to have a SAILfish, maybe good for kids to goof around or small adults. It will be a great workout boat and we plan to SUP it a bit as well, maybe put a GCI canoe seat on top and kayak around a little (Sitbacker™ | Camping Furniture | Outdoor Folding Chairs | Stadium Seats | GCI Outdoor)

We paid $300 for our "Sailfish kit", but it was a Friends and Family deal :)

Cheers

BRAVO!!! thats going to be fun. I am close to getting mine on the water. Just got a trailer for a jet ski to fix up for it. I will need some sailing lessons first.

I tempted to do a blog about mine enjoyed seeing the pics

Working on the Standard Sailfish, her permanent name is Winnie. We sailed her and she takes on a few cups/hr. So we did a leak test and tracked down a few pinholes in the hull/side seam and one smallish rot spot along the side/deck seam. Those were reamed and cleaned to solid wood and we injected Petit Flexpoxy to reseal.

The rot spot, about 5 inches long x 3/4 inch, probably came from the hull being stored on its side with water collecting at the low spot. It was all the way through the 3/4 inch oak at one small spot. We filled the area with Flexpoxy, then will paint and monitor. If the rot grows at all then we'll cut out a little more and scarf in a new section. So right now she has had a little cosmetic surgery :)
