Do I need a class legal sail?

I have a laser radial sail from intensity sails (http://www.intensitysails.com/prsaforlara.html) It is the only sail I have. I was planning on going to a small reggata (not ILCA) and was wondering if I will need a class legal sail. I have seen people use intensity sails sails at small opti regattas so mabey it's not that big of a deal.

1. There's no such thing as a "non-ILCA" Laser regatta.
2. In the Optimist, you can use any sail that's measured. It's not a single supplier class.

Contact the yacht club and see if there is a Laser fleet captain you can speak with. You might get a feel as to how the sailors there feel about replica sails.

Agreed, The NOR will say if they're legal for the event, fleet captain is the person to ask, I've seen people use them in class regattas that specifically say they're not allowed and they didn't get protested, if you won that might be a different story though I wouldn't protest you because it's not a performance advantage, if you came to the Laser regatta with a Rooster 8.1 ok well then you'd get protested!
