Minifish; novelty or legitimate?

I picked up a minifish last summer. I bought it because this guy was looking to get rid of the two boats he had. I don't really need the minifish but seems no one else is interested in it either when I have listed it.

The Minifish is a legitimate boat, and with the rolled decks, is the design bridge between the pre- and post-1972
Sunfish design. It came with a 65 sq, ft, sail and at about 85 lbs, it is easy to cartop. It sails well, but unlike the Sunfish,
it is more suited for a couple of young kids or an adult under 150 lbs, I have owned and sailed a Minifish, but at close to 200 lbs, I am too big to make this boat perform well. That said, there is demand for Minifish. If you want to sell yours, place a free ad here in the Sunfish Forum and your area CraigsLists and it will sell. In decent shape with a good sail, they usually sell in the $500 - $600 range.

Actually I have had a listing for it on CL and only one real person asked about it. I had two of those we will send you a check with more than your price and our shipper will arrange for pick up scammers. I have it listed for 300.00, has a new sail but cosmetically needs some work. Also the rudder I got isn't for it. I suppose I will do some more work on it and get it a little bit nicer and ask for more.

The rudder assembly on the Minifish is the same as any post 1972 Sunfish, but the tiller handle is about 9" shorter. The dagger board is also the (tapered) "Shadow" board that came stock for about 10 years on the Sunfish. I think the builder wanted to have the same parts for both the Sunfish and the Mini. It should sell at $300.

Alan, the rudder I have is the same shape and set up as a sunfish but the rudder cheek assembly is from some other clone.
I am going to order the correct rudder cheek and put the blade in it and it should be good to go. I suspect that is the reason its not selling. No one wants to buy an entire new rudder for this used boat. The hull # is AMF43850M6J

Good boats, selling points being the light weight and it is balanced and sporty like the Sunfish. We have sold 2, to older folks who wanted a lighter boat.

Tr posting CL in DFW area?

Sold it today to a young officer in the army stationed north of me. He had a couple of friends come with him to check it out. The young lady with them was on a sailing team in college and had sailed a multiple of dinghies.
