Mast Question

I recently bought a used Capti 14.2 . I am very anxious to try the boat but I am concerned about the bolt hole in the mast for the pivot point just above the base. There appears to be a sleeve in the mast that has a ring that holds the sleeve outside the mast on one side but not the other. I will try to attach a photo.

I would pull the boat with the mast to a welder who works on aluminum and have him reinforce that side of the hole, it 'might' be ok as it is, but............

or possibly a thin wall tube the width of the mast to slide into the hole and act like a bearing surface. You could epoxy it in place and file it smooth on the outside. Just an idea. You would have to find just the right size tube/pipe and may have to get a smaller pin/bolt to go inside it.

There is a sleeve in the mast already and it feels secure. Was there something on the outside of both sides of the mast originally?,

The sleeve was buttressed on both ends, one side of yours is badly worn, the other is near perfect. The only potential problem I see is if wear continues you will eventually start eroding the aluminum mast hole. RK
