Centerboard lift assembly

Has anyone replaced the blocks for the centerboard lift assembly? I have an '84 Capri 14.2 and all the wheels inside the blocks are falling apart. They're stamped "Seaway" but I can't find any "Seaway" company that is making blocks today. In the manual they are labeled "midget block with padeye", "midget turning block", and "midget cheek block". Any help is appreciated...

Here's a link for West Marine they have local stores and mail order

I have a similar rigging in my cp14. My hardware is Harken and they are solid - not able to be taken apart, the sheef(wheel) is riveted between two stainless steel pieces. The Harken parts are expensive but only one of my cheek blocks has a fragmented "sheef" and they have seen alot of use... I have found this rigging to be unusual i.e. not many other cp14's seem to have the same set-up.

The link I posted is a Harken

Good afternoon guys, I purchased my mod II C14 a couple of weeks ago and I've replaced all the running rigging except for the worn out bungee cord that controls the centerboard and the line (totally missing) which runs the blocks - having these little blocks and cam cleats on both sides of the cockpit are foreign to me. Although I've studied the C14 manual extensively, it has not been very enlightening on how it all comes together. Can anyone give me a good idea how these are to be used? A snap-shot would help immensely too!!!

Many thanks,
Rob

This manual has a picture on page 38. www.recreation.ucla.edu/document_preview.aspx?uid=2500Not great - but it might help. The line comes from the padeye stopper, through the block to the the centerboard block, back forward to a block, and then around to the cam cleat. Lifting is done with the line at the cam cleat. The attached file is a schematic.

That's great. I ordered a new shock chord from CD and will be adding the line soon.

I noticed you don't have the hiking straps installed - my boat doesn't have them either. Do I really need them if I'm not going to be racing??

I use my hiking straps - a lot ! If the wind comes up you will be glad you have them . I made mine from a tow strap .

Good point... I know I have some old tow straps laying around somewhere in the garage.
