Loose Screws on Mast Plate

I have a Mod 2, and every time I take it out, the screws on the plate that connect the bottom of the mast to the deck of the boat start to come loose. I'm curious if anyone else has run into this problem and what a solution might be. Thanks!

Get some larger stainless screws. Carefully drill out the old holes to fit the bigger screws. You may also need to drill out the plate.

Use good caulking on the plate and screw it down. Don't use bolts with nuts as a dismasting can pull up the deck.

I had a problem with one of the four screws this season. I epoxied several teak "toothpicks" into the hole, then drilled a new correct size hole. Worked! Note: you can use any hardwood; nothing magic about teak except I had some laying about.

I'd be careful drilling yours for larger screws than the originals which are really already pretty large.
