Weekend Sailing Report!

Finally got out on the water for some sailing! According to the GPS, we traveled over 15nm and had a top speed of 5.7 knots in 10-15 winds. Crew got a chance to hike out during some of the gusts. Practiced the basics of running at all points of sail, tacking, jibes (mostly controlled), and some wing on wing downwind sailing. Made a couple of modifications including installing my own homemade pvc roller furler and gallon jug mast bob. After one trip, I decided on sawing off a few inches of the tiller. There just wasn't enough room for me to get across the cockpit between it and the barney post! Also got a chance to use the new 2.5hp Suzuki 4 stroke in order to head up into the wind and back to the dock.

The weather is finally getting nice down here in the Keys so hopefully there will more sailing time in the near future! I really can't say enough good things about the great community and advice available on this forum! Thanks!
