I was out in heavy winds, and snapped my tiller.
Where is the best place to buy a tiller?

I am in Arizona.

Thanks

Bill

If you are unable to find one at a fair price, I made a couple in my garage out of oak that turned out ok. I made them a little shorter so it would be easier to change sides when tacking. I also have the orginal one, but want to keep it. Shipping might be a problem.

Thanks for the offer

In the near term: I am going to saw off the jagged edge, and reinstall my hiking stick in this shorter piece. I think my tiller was 42.5 inches. IT will be around 12 inches shorter when I get it sorted. It will help with changing sides.

Where you at in So. Cal. ? I go to Huntington Beach often, and I will be at Mission Bay in July.

So, if this rework doesnt work out I will let you know.

One thing you might be interested in. I made a rudder for another boat out of Lexan.
Companies sometimes sell pieces of this for cheap. Get some at least 1/2 thick and it can be cut with a band saw or jig saw and can be drilled tapped, etc and is tough as nails. The only thing I have seen start to break is down is years of bright sunlight makes it start to crack eventually and its not clear any more but even then it is still strong. The technical name is polycarbonite laminate. I would hate to see what they want for a stock fin.
