Hatch Latch

Looking for advise from those that have modified the cuddy of their Mod 2s. I have pulled the 'trash can' and made a hatch much like the Mod 1's. Question: Is there a latch on the market that anyone can recommend that would provide a good, if not watertight, seal?

...and yes, I have checked "Post your mod 2 hatch pic" and related posts. A lot of great ideas but am hoping for some detail.

Thanks,

Brad

I bought a slightly fancy sliding latch from Lowes. I think it was $7. It is brass and you have to pull on the knob before sliding it. If I can find a part number, I will send it. It is holding up just fine.

Hatch Latch Option

Rayhas,

Appreciate the reply. Found a 'material solution' of my own. Used 1/2" Starboard for the hatch. The 1/2" fits tightly. Added 2 Southco 'soft latches' on each side of the new hatch. The soft latches are low profile and provide some compression on the new hatch. May not be water proof but is certainly water resistant.

Thanks,

Mac

That sounds like an interesting solution. Do you have any pictures of it that you can post?

The latches are rubber and stretch to provide some compression and secure closure. At 3/4" (apx) in thickness, I am hoping they do not attract lines.

That looks nice. It is similar to something I've seen before, but with plexiglass as the hatch and wingnuts coming from the inside as latches.

Thanks!
