Just Got My New 14.2

Been a life long sailor growing up on Martha's Vineyard. We moved to Phoenix Arizona 10 years ago and have sailed very little since. Just purchased a 14.2 to teach our 4 and 6 year olds to sail on.

Boat is an 85 and looking for resources on the rigging, engine or no?, boat cushions and any ideas on ways to upgrade the boat. Any references would be appreciated! Look forward to being apart of the community.

welcome to the 14.2 experience

The capri 14.2 forum is a wealth of information, that being said, go to your computer and type in Arizona Yacht Club. Our 14.2 fleet will be racing at Tempe Town Lake this sunday 2/13/2011 at 2 pm John capri # 3184

MV: As John mentioned, stop by Tempe Town Lake this Sunday (2/13), and come prepared to sail your C 14.2 with us. Best to check with the City of Tempe (they have a boating office on second floor of the library at Rural and Southern) ahead of time to purchase an annual Tempe Town Lake boating permit.

We mostly arrive about 1:00 pm for rigging/launching and try to get to start line (by the marina pool entrance on the north side of TTL) in time to check in with race committee a little before 2. Just give the race committee $5 for entry into the day's races, or just sail around on your own. Some time a little after 4 boats are trailered and derigging near launch site. More re/TTL

MV: Also, you will need pfd's, and I don't know anyone who uses cushions. If wind is ultralight, a small paddle is nice; and a hat, water, and sunscreen are usually essential here in AZ. TTL will only allow electric motors, though I don't know anyone who uses one hereabouts.

An advantage of sailing during our training races, is that there is a safety boat on hand in case anyone gets in trouble. RK

@Rk...I'm on the road usually Sunday through Friday including this weekend. Getting the boat serviced at the Sailboat Shop at Lake Pleasant and hopefully will log some time on the Water on Saturday. We'll catch up with you one of these days in Tempe. Thanks for the info!
