Class restrictions on replacing cuddy hatch? Other questions...

Question 1: I have a mod 1 with the teak cover for the cuddy. Are there class restrictions regarding replacing the teak hatch cover with a watertight hatch? (If so, is there a kit or standard replacement hatch?)

Question 2: What is the purpose of the small hole with rubber grommet on the forward end of the seat (on the vertical surface)?

Question #2. Sounds like you are talking about the holes for the bungee cord that goes under the forward hiking straps. There should be one on each side of the boat. Real pain to replace but worth while.

The class restrictions are pretty strict as far as adding items but even so, this would not be a performance enhancement so you wouldn't get much static from anyone IMO. This may even be a replacement that is regarded as a safety improvement of the original and allowed. Could be viewed as no different than replacing the plastic clamcleats with metal ones.

The two small grommets were where a bungee came across, went under the hiking straps to hold them up. It was eliminated on the mod 3 boats.
