Your blog has a picture of a yellow Omega 14. Mine is the same color and model, with the serial number 514. What has me confussed is that it was fitted with a fixed keel. Everyone I talk to tells me that that is not possible. Catalina told me that it was a 1971 but they said that they never built one with a fixed keel. As far as I can tell, everything on it is original with no modifications.
The strip down the middle covers the centerboard box and the keel bolts through the three large holes. Ever seen one like this?
Looking at the photo, your keel bolts and plate are in exactly the same location as the centerboard and brackets on my Omega. Maybe someone got creative. I checked the parts list from Catalina, no mention of a keel.
Thank you for the pics. They will sure help. My wife thinks that there is no hope for my Omega 14. She wants me to send the boat to the dump. Over my dead body!
As for the keel???? Whoever modified it must have done a super job. Even the non-slip texture in that cover over the centerboard box matches the texture on the floor and seats. We'll keep working on that one.
