Mast support while trailering boat

As I sort through all the items stolen from my boat (see other posts) I realize that the mast "crutch" was stolen as well. This was a cool item that had a metal pin that fit into the holes where the rudder attaches, and had a plastic "U" at the top to hold the rear of the mast (the front is in a crutch built into the trailer). Is this a stock part? It seemed to fit perfectly, would like to buy another rather than improvise. Anyone seen these? Thanks!

Works Great

I bought the Ahoy Captain 33 inch for $35 plus $8 shipping. It works great both for trailering and to hold the boom up when I am dock side.

The boom does not quite reach but you can loop the main sheet over it and it supports the boom fine. It is exactly the right height.

It also helps support the mast when you lower it. No need for a helper while you un-pin the mast from the tabernacle.

So what about the boom for trailering?

I've also purchased the mast crutch, it is working just fine, thanks for the advice, Ed!

So now I am wondering what should I do with the boom when trailering? I'd like to keep it out and above the body of the boat to avoid scratching and rubbing. In my case the sails are not hooked so I can't loop them around the boom.

For now I've bungeed the boom to the back of the mast when it is on the crutch, but I think this is adding too much weight and it might eventually bend the mast.

Has anyone invented a nice way to trailer the boom too?

Stowing the Boom

Chris, I use the bolt thru the tabernacle and run it thru the hole in the goose neck. I rest the other end of the boom on the tie down strap and loosely tie a short rope around the boom and strap for a little additional security. Some folks rest the back end of the boom on the floor with a rag tied around it so it won't scratch things.
