shock cord

My shock cord is going bad. (That's the line to the centerboard) Can anyone give me the spec so I can replace it without buying it from the dealer who will overcharge me?

Thanks,

Fred

It's 4' long, 3/8" diameter. It's going to be a hard pull to hook up when new, so don't think you got the wrong size.

Verify shock cord length

Ed,

Probably a dumb question, but...

Is 4' the length of the cord prior to crimping the end fittings on with hog rings...or is it the finished length of the cord?

Thanks.

I have the printout from my boat

And it shows that the length should be 4' 0" of 3/8" shock cord measured from eye to eye (just to the inside, allowing for the cord thickness - so actual length is 4" plus 2 X 3/8 - follow?). There's a drawing, but I don't have a scanner at home. It's the made up length.

OK, here's a sketch

Afraid my definition wasn't that great....
