Yes, you are correct...In the learning experiance I have had the sail in the water several times... since they are now sealed at the top, they float and would not be possible to Turtle it... while the wing is laying in the water, turning the boat into the wind it rights itself...

Erik, Thanks for your comments...I have had a few that have said it was ugly...also wanted to reduce the "tipping" and a little weight up high. I have had a hard time getting head to head videos when the wind would cooperate. I don't have a "team" helping me. At the same time I am learning...

Lu Thanks for the info...a sleeve will work, I will need to modify the control line area that is now just behind the mast where the two turning blocks are located...but not a big problem. Chuck

You are correct...my thinking was backwards...with a 15 square foot difference and 60 square feet on the wing I assumed 25%... Chuck

I would guess that 2.5" diameter is closer... the mast on the Sunfish is 2.25" diameter. If 2.5" is correct I can use a sleeve to adapt the wing sails I have now to the Laser. Thanks Chuck www.solidwingsails.com

Thanks for correcting my typo... Yes there has been a little head to head...but not enough yet at various points of sail. The wing points higher, but have not done any downwind racing. On the reach it is faster with 25% less sail area...
