Yes, you are correct...In the learning experiance I have had the sail in the water several times... since they are now sealed at the top, they float and would not be possible to Turtle it... while the wing is laying in the water, turning the boat into the wind it rights itself...
Erik,
Thanks for your comments...I have had a few that have said it was ugly...also wanted to reduce the "tipping" and a little weight up high. I have had a hard time getting head to head videos when the wind would cooperate. I don't have a "team" helping me. At the same time I am learning...
Good Idea... I will try ... and hope that I can bring two or three Wings so that others can try it out...
Also can you give me some comments on the "look" of the wing.. 'have photoshopped to give more traditional look, but cost is affected...

Thanks for the info...a sleeve will work, I will need to modify the control line area that is now just behind the mast where the two turning blocks are located...but not a big problem.
Chuck
I would guess that 2.5" diameter is closer... the mast on the Sunfish is 2.25" diameter. If 2.5" is correct I can use a sleeve to adapt the wing sails I have now to the Laser. Thanks

Thanks for correcting my typo... Yes there has been a little head to head...but not enough yet at various points of sail. The wing points higher, but have not done any downwind racing. On the reach it is faster with 25% less sail area...
I would like to work with someone with a Laser in My area Charlotte Harbor, Florida. I have designed and built several wing sails for Sunfish and would like to try them on a Laser. see www.solidwindsails.com for contacting me. Thanks
Chuck
